Managing Video FX Packages
In VEGAS Pro, you can combine multiple video effects into a reusable package called a Video FX Package. These packages preserve the full FX chain, including all parameter settings, and can be applied at any level:
-
event
-
track
-
media
-
video bus
They simplify your workflow and ensure visual consistency across your projects or even multiple systems.
-
Apply a saved effect chain to several clips without setting up the effects each time.
-
Build and reuse complex look presets across different scenes.
-
Share stylized effects setups with collaborators or across machines.
Creating a Video FX Package
Make sure a video clip is placed on the timeline and the timeline cursor is positioned within the event.
-
Click the Video FX button to open the window.
-
From the list of available effects, drag a preset of your choice onto the clip.
-
Add one or more additional effects to create a custom FX chain.
-
Adjust the parameter settings for each effect in the Video Event FX window as needed.
-
When the FX chain is complete, click Save Plug-in Chain as Filter Package.
-
In the dialog that appears, enter a name for your FX package and click OK to save it.
The full FX chain and all saved parameter settings will be restored.
Using Packages at Other FX Levels
You can apply video FX packages not only at the event level but also to tracks, media files, and the video bus:
- Track FX: Open the Track FX window and drag the package in.
- Media FX: Use the Media FX panel for file-wide application.
- Video Bus FX: Drag the package to the Video Bus track.
Applying a Saved FX Package
-
Drag a new clip onto the timeline.
-
Open the Video FX panel and switch to the Filter Packages tab.
-
Drag the saved package onto the new clip or click the + button.
Managing and Sharing Packages
-
In the Filter Packages tab, click Explore effect filters folder.
Windows Explorer opens to the folder where your FX packages are stored.
-
Copy these files to share them or transfer them to other computers.
Do not rename or modify FX package files manually outside VEGAS Pro. Use the interface to manage them.
