Layer Dimensionality

You can use the layer dimensionality filter to add depth to video and images that contain alpha transparency. The filter allows you to add shadow, glow, and embossing effects.

Shadow

Click the arrow to show or hide the shadow controls.

Type: Choose a setting from the drop-down list to choose whether you want to apply no shadow, a drop shadow, or an outer shadow to your layer.

Height: Drag the slider to the right to increase the shadow offset, or drag left to decrease the offset. The position of the shadow is also controlled by the Light Location settings.

Blur: Drag the slider to determine how smoothly the text shadow blends into the background.

Opacity: Drag the slider to adjust the transparency/opacity of the shadow.

Glow

Click the arrow to show or hide the glow controls.

Type: Choose a setting from the drop-down list to choose whether you want to apply a glowing outline to your layer.

Amount: Drag the slider to adjust the intensity of the glow effect.

Color: To set the color of the glow effect, you can use the color picker, type color values (or names), or use the eyedropper to sample a color from your screen.

Emboss

Click the arrow to show or hide the emboss controls.

Foreground: Drag the slider to the left decrease the height of the foreground embossing, or drag to the right to increase the height of the embossing.

Background: Drag the slider to the left decrease the height of the background embossing, or drag to the right to increase the height of the embossing.

Light Intensity: Drag the slider to adjust the strength of the light source.

Light Ambience: Drag the slider to adjust the amount of ambient light in the image.

Roundness: Drag the slider to the left to create a hard bevel, or drag to the right to create a rounded embossed effect.

Shininess: Drag the slider (or enter a value in the box) to make the surface of the image appear more or less reflective.

Foreground Opacity

Drag the slider to the left to make the foreground more transparent, or drag to the right to make the foreground more opaque.

Light Location

Perform any of the following actions to position the light source within your project's video frame:

Drag the point in the position box:

Drag the slider to set the height of the light source above the frame.

You can also type coordinates in the position box.
